Hi!
Singapore at the cross road of Asia has undoubtedly the most varied and
cosmopolitan cuisines possible. I'm not saying this because I stay here
but having travelled to most continents, I find that its somewhat tacky
title of 'Food Capital' (no doubt crowned by the tourism board) contains
much truth in it.
Asian cuisines that are well represented are Thai, Indonesian, Japanese,
Cantonese, Szechuan... And its local cuisine is truly unique such as
chicken rice :oP, satay (flame-grilled beef, chicken or mutton skewered
on a thin stick eaten with a sweet peanut sauce and rice cakes), chilli
crabs etc. Probably the only other place where u can get similar food
is Malaysia but nonetheless, slight variations exist. I guess the
reason why Singapore's cuisine is unique is due to the pot pourri
cultures here - from the indigenous Malays to the immigrant Chinese and
Indians not forgetting the British.
I think there's a mention on food in my webpage listed below. It ought
to be under 'Singapore's' page. Have fun!
