Kochoo Jeon and Don Jeon

JEON is traditional Korean dish. It is not an ordinary dish you can eat everyday. Of course you can eat it everyday if you like, but traditionally, it is usually used for party. There are various kinds of JEONs in Korea (zuccini Jeon, fish Jeon, beef liver Jeon, hot pepper Jeon, circle shape Jeon, and so on). KOCHOO JEON means hot pepper Jeon, and DON JEON means circle shape Jeon ("Don" means coin). Coating with flours and dipping into eggs, and saute wiht cooking oil is the typical way of making JEONs.
Ingredients:

1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 box of hard Tofu
10 green hot peppers
1/2 cup all purpose flour
2 beaten eggs
3 tablespoon water
Cooking oil

sauce;

5 tablespoon chopped green onion
1 tablespoon minced garlic
3 tablespoon soysauce
1 1/2 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoon sesame seed
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Method:

1) Cut hot peppers lengthwise into two.
2) Squeeze Tofu with paper towel and mash it.
3)  In a large bowl, put beef, mashed Tofu and the sauce and mix well.
4)  Apply flour to the inner side of peppers.
5)  Fill peppers with beef and Tofu mixture. (KOCHOO JEON)
6)  Shape remaining beef and Tofu mixture into 1-inch round patties. (DON JEON)
7)  Coat round patties with flour.
8)  Coat meat side of stuffed pepper with flour.
9)  Dip 7) & 8) into beaten egg.
10) In a fry pan, cook JEONS with cooking oil until golden. (mediun heat)
11) Serve when they are warm.  Sprinkle some soy sauce if you like salty taste.
