FAMOUS CHICKEN RICE STALL
CHANGED INTO
AN ORDINARY WAN TON NOODLE SHOP
Kok Kee Wan Ton Noodle
The stalls here in the Bugis Square are said to have moved in from Bugis Street several years ago. Bugis became one of the most trendy areas since PARCO and Hotel Intercontinental opened in late 1995.(The whole T shaped streets are covered by glass ceiling like a greenhouse. The inner-space is airconditioned and cool even at highnoon!!!)
Bugis Square, which is rather distant from Bugis area, is also somewhat modern and tidy.(I pick up Kok Kee,
Seng Kee and
Peking Eating House in this WWW site from among the stalls of Bugis Square.

As I wrote on the page for Seng Kee, Kok Kee was a famous chicken rice stall at least up to a few years ago. Today, however, I found that it became an ordinary Wan Ton Noodle shop.
Standard noodle is Hong Kong noodle here. And I like Hong Kong noodle. It is quite similar to and somewhat thinner than Japanese Rahmen noodle and cooked AL DENTE. Therefore, I decided to try the new Kok Kee and ordered Char Siew Dumpling Noodle. (Left) It was S$4.
It was neither excellent nor bad ;-)
As there is no photo of Hong Kong noodle elsewhere in this site, I upload one for your information. For Japanese this noodle is least exotic among many noodle sorts in Singapore. It is pretty tasty as fried noodle like this or as soup noodle. AL DENTE is the point.
