Muthu's Curry in Race Course Rd. is one of the most popular banana leaf restaurants. Indian friends, without exception, recommend this as one of their favourite curry restaurants.
I personally feel, Muthu's offers the best fishhead curry around here. The famous Bananaleaf Apollo's fishhead is for me too sour. Anyhow, for this size, you should pay S$ 23. UPDATE 2002: Fish head in priced at $16 (small), $20 (medium), $25 (large). The basic rice meal is $1.50 (rice, 2 veges and pappadam) served on banana leaf. |
Basic price S$ 2.5 includes rice, 2 sorts of vegetable curry and papad on bananaleaf. After adding drinks, fish croquet, chicken and S$ 23 fishhead, the total price for 5 persons was S$ 51. This price is average. Fishhead is an expensive food. If you give it up and are satisfied with ordinary mutton or chicken, price per person would remain some 5 - 6 dollars.
Muthu's became tidy recently. Was it renovated? If you go to eating places in the nearby Chender Rd., they calculate using plain paper and ballpoint pen. Here you can use AMEX ! Hindu gods behind the register table was kept clean and rich (right) !
