I grew up in a Kampung and Pisang Goreng is one of the Malay snacks I love after a swim. It was 5 cents each from our neighbours where my brothers and I would also eat Mee Rebus. The above photos was taken in Penang, West Malaysia. It reminds me very much of my childhood. Any batter will do since it can't really go wrong. The important thing is to use banana that's not too ripe(eg pisang raja). Other vegetable/fruit often used for deep frying by the Chinese include sweet potatos and yam. The Malays do not use egg in the batter.
