Home Cooking: An $8.00 , Cooked in 15 Minutes Dinner
Sometimes, you feel too lazy to even go out and eat. Eating out can be a hassle, just as cooking can be a hassle. But if you are creative you can whip up a meal in a few minutes, using whatever is available in the refrigerator. Here are the recipes for a meal I cooked, just for my wife and me.
Grilled Pork with Asparagus

Take $1.00 worth of minced pork, that has a little fat. (I don't know how many grams is $1.00 of pork). Pound one clove garlic, 3 shallots, 1 cm stick of cinnamon. Mix with pork, together with salt, pepper, one teaspoonful of cornflour into a patty. Cut some asparagus ($2.00 worth). Put a touch of cooking oil over the pork and asparagus ready for grilling.
Grilled Salmon with Tomatoes, Chilli and Onions

Take $5.00 worth of fresh salmon. Season with salt. Add 1 tomato, 1 sliced red chilli, 1 onion, 1 tablespoonful white wine (something dry like a Vouvray or a Muscadet). Ready to grill.
Take both prepared dishes, and put in a heated oven for 15 Minutes. Garnish the Salmon with Coriander, and eat with rice.
Description of Meal
Grilling does wonders for minced pork and asparagus. The slightly burnt asparagus has
a crunchy, nutty flavour, and the fat in the minced pork poured out its sweetness after
grilling. Make sure you don't overcook the pork, or it will turn out dry. The garlic,
shallots and cinnamon in the pork added an exotic touch to what would have been a
glorified hamburger. A dash of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce added piquancy to
the dish.
The Salmon was a contrast in texture and taste. The tartness of the tomatoes and the wine combined well with the silky smooth pink meat. The skin was in contrast, crispy and crunchy. The smell of the frsh Coriander leaves, leaves no doubt as to the Easten treatment given to this classic Western fish.
I enjoyed the meal with a chilled Reisling and a cup of strong German coffee, and for dessert, some dark chocolate wafers in Orange liquor.
